ENSSP YR 5-6 Mixed Cricket

On Tuesday 24th May we had a ENSSP yr 5-6 School Games Compete Mixed Cricket event which was for pupils who are competitive in nature and enjoy performing and competing against others. Players/ teams that displayed School Games Values and fair play were celebrated alongside the results. Respect was the main School Games Vaule focus for this event!!

Mixed Cricket format was two groups of 4 and each team played 3 group matches in the morning. Then there were semi final matches and final matches whilst the other teams had friendly matches in the afternoon. Winner of group A played runner up of group B and Winner of Group B played Runner up of group A. The team consisted of a squad of 10 with only 8 players playing at once. Each player bowled 5 balls when fielding and each batting pair faced 10 balls.

East Norfolk Sixth Form Leaders were great at officiating, scoring and encouraging alongside the Caister Cricket Club coaches and Kevin Denmark (Norfolk Cricket Board). The matches allowed the children to enjoy and improve skills throughout the matches as the competition went on. Some great batting, bowling and fiedling on show. All schools had fantastic sportsmanship and encouraged each other with lots of children giving cricket a go for the first time!

A big thank you for Caister CC for letting us use the facility, and Kevin Denamark who helped run the competition, aswell as the East Norfolk Sixth Form College leaders, we couldn't have run the events without you guys, officiating well and encouraing/teaching the children to improve their cricket skills.

Congratulations to Martham and Woodlands for qualifying to the Norfolk Cricket County Finals at Manor Road (Norfolk Cricket Club) on Tuesday 28th June for the yr 5-6 Mixed Cricket. Good luck to the pupils representing East Norfolk SSP.

Well done to Edward Worlledge, Rollesby, Hillside, North Denes and Caister for participating in today's event too.

Overall, it was great day of cricket, with great performances from all the schools and teams that were involved. It provided a great opportunity for the pupils to come represent their school in a sports event. All of the girls and boys were engaged, active and improved across the competition. As a result of today, we encourage schools to provide the children the opportunity to develop further by putting on clubs after school, lunchtime and before school as well as encourage the pupils to join a local community club to promote cricket wider for ENSSP, as well as offering to go in to schools to provide a cricket lesson.
