On Tuesday 26th April, ENSSP hosted a Year 6 School Games ENGAGE This Girl Can Festival at East Norfolk Sixth Form College. This event was for non-competitive and targeted pupils who would benefit from being more physically active, particularly those whose physical activity levels have been most negatively impacted by COVID-19. Participants/ teams displayed the School Games Values and fair play and self belief values were celebrated.
We had 8 teams (5 schools - 8x10 pupils) attend, The schools were:
Rollesby
Martham
Caister
Cliff Park
Woodlands
The schools rotated around 4 stations in group of 20 pupils (2 schools of 10 pupils) aiming to acheive their personal best in:BoxerciseBoogie BounceYogaMulti-skills
Massive thanks to the East Norfolk Sixth Form College sports leaders delivering multi-skills session, Nathan for the Yoga session, Tami delivering boogie bounce and Georgina delivering boxercise.
Overall, it was great event with lots of girls engaging in different activities to achieve their personal best and to try something new. The children got more confident as the day went on and enjoyed the activities. This event provided a great opportunity for the pupils to come represent their school in a sports event for the first time. As a result of today, we encourage schools to provide the children the opportunity to develop and improve their skills further by putting on clubs after school, lunchtime and before school as well as encourage the girls to join a local community club in a sport. Also Schools can access further info and resources on This Girl Can website to encourage the children to maintain a healthy active lifestyle.
