On Tuesday 29th March we hosted two ENGAGE Yr 3-4 Panathlon events at East Norfolk Sixth Form College and was run by The Panathlon Challenge, a national charity which delivers sporting opportunities for children with a special education need or disability (SEND) alongside the ENSFC sports leaders. This event was for non-competitive and targeted SEND pupils who would benefit from being more physically active, particularly those whose physical activity levels have been most negatively impacted by COVID-19. Participants/ teams displayed the School Games Values and fair play and self belief values were celebrated.
We had over 50 children from 7 different schools taking part across the two yr 3-4 events. The event ran as a carousel of activities which the teams rotated around and collected points for their team. Some of the rotating activities included kurling, ten pin skittles, basketball, boccia, tennis slalom, flight path target, bean bag and parachute
The yr 3-4 morning session results:
1. Caister
2. St George's
3. Cliff Park
4. North Denes
The yr 3-4 afternoon session results:
1. Southtown
2. Rollesby
3. Martham
Overall, it was great to see so many happy faces throughout the event enjoying sport and giving pupils an inclusive opportunity as sport is for everyone! There was great performances from all the schools and teams that were involved. It provided a great opportunity for the pupils to come represent their school in a sports event. All of the girls and boys were engaged, active and improved across the competition. As a result of today, we encourage schools to provide the children the opportunity to develop further by putting on clubs after school, lunchtime and before school as well as encourage the pupils to join a local community club to promote SEND/ inclusive sport opportunites. Massive Thanks to Howard from Panathlon for providing this opportunity for the SEND children in ENSSP to get active.
