NSG Girls Football Level 2 yr 3-4

On Wednesday 9th October 2019, the second Girls Football Competition of the week was held at Cliff Park Ormiston Academey. This competition was for pupils in Year 3 and 4. The event forms part of the Norfolk School Games which aims to engage more pupils in competitive sport. The top two finishing schools are invited to represent the SSP at the Norfolk School Games Winter County Finals later in the academic year.

Five different schools (7 teams) attended the event.

The schools that attended the event were;

  • Rollesby Primary
  • Martham Academy
  • Southtown Primary
  • Woodlands Primary Academy (A and B team)
  • North Denes Primary (A and B team)

All the games were played 5-aside format and lasted 8 mintue continuous period (no halftime). Each game was scored and refereed by sports students from East Norfolk Sixth Form and Cliff Park Ormiston Academy. The competition was run in a round robin format. Points were awarded based on the results and after all the games were played, the points were calculated to provide an overall position for each school. Points were awarded by 5 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. If points level after all games the position was concluded by GD, then GS and then if still level head to head result.

The overall results were as follows;

1st: Martham

2nd: Woodlands A

3rd: North Denes A

4th: Southtown

5th : North Denes B

6th : Rollesby

7th : Woodlands B

 

Overall, it was great afternoon of football with great performances from all the schools and teams that were involved. It provided a great opportunity for the pupils to come represent their school in a sports event. All of the girls were engaged, active and improved across the competition. As a result of today, Martham and Woodlands are invited to represent the East Norfolk SSP at the Norfolk School Games Winter County Finals on Thursday 13th February 2020 at Goals Soccer Centre.
