Description

Norfolk School Games YR 7-9 Colour Run. This event is non-competitive and targets pupils who would benefit from being more physically active, particularly those whose physical activity levels have been most negatively impacted by COVID-19.. Participants/ teams displaying School Games Values and fair play will celebrated. This events aims to improve their confidence and have a positive experience to encourage the vulnerable children to engage into sport/physical activity in P.E, after school clubs and local community clubs. 

Entry is open to all schools within the East Norfolk SSP only via booking on the SSP website. Only 1 booking per school. (If spaces do not get fully filled, SGO will email to schools booked on if they would like to enter a 2nd team). We only have 120 places. First come first served basis. 

Information will be sent to the teams booked on closer to the time/ after deadline. Make sure you book on before the deadline.

Format

This is an Engage themed event which aims to give young children a first opportunity to take part in a fun, off site sports festival. The festival will focus on pupils doing their personal best, having fun, whilst working with their peers. We hope that the festival will help inspire pupils to develop the habit of choosing to take part in PE/school sport opportunities when they arise in the future. As well as encourage them to live a healthy active lifestyle.

Participants will be encouraged to run/walk/jog up to 5 laps of the 1-kilometre course. Each lap includes paint throwing stations, a different colour each lap.Participants are able finish at the end of any of the 5 laps if preferred. Please come wearing appropriate sports clothing. White t-shirts will be provided and given out on arrival for each participant to wear whilst taking part.  Pupils will all run together. It is not a race to the finish but a personal challenge event. No medals will be awarded.

Arrival 12:30pm

Registration/ Briefing  12:45pm

Warm up  1pm 

Run - 1:15pm

Extravaganza - 2:30pm

Departure - 15:00pm

Those schools and pupils not coming along on the day are encouraged to do a colour run in school on or from the 24th June 2022 to be part of our Norfolk wide event. More details and support for this virtual event will be available on our website soon. Schools taking part will be entered into our prize draw to win a set of goody bags or a Norfolk School Games mascot visit.‘

Please note there is very limited parking so please drop off and pick up your staff members and pupils when transporting your school to/from this event if possible and leave enough time to get there.

The competition will be held inside so please ensure your team are appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and have an appropriate drink to keep hydrated. Risk Assessment

By booking to take part in this event you agree that you have read and understand the contents of the event risk assessment and the safeguarding and responsibilities form/ Event guide. Please note that schools are responsible for the transport, arrival and departure of their pupils. Schools should bring their own first aid kit and are responsible for the first aid of their students.

Photography/ videos

We use a variety of digital and social media to promote all our events including our SSP website and Twitter profiles. By booking onto this event, you are agreeing to our photo policy. It is the responsibility of the participating school to ensure that they have asked parents/guardian for permission for photos and videos of all participants to be taken by SSP staff or official event photographers. Please ensure you make the SSP staff aware of any children without photo/ video consent prior to the start of the event. These children will be asked to wear a yellow armband throughout the event which will indicate that no photographs/ videos should be taken of them.
