Recruit Into Coaching

Recruit into Coaching: What is it all about?

 The recruit into coaching programme was launched by the Prime Minister in September 2007 when he announced a £5 million campaign to encourage 10,000 people in 70 of the most deprived areas in the country to become volunteer coaches over the coming 3 years. It offers a wonderful opportunity for Specialist Sports Colleges (Cliff Park High School) and School Sports Partnerships (East Norfolk) to achieve three outcomes;

  • It will provide an onward pathway for Step into Sport leaders enabling them to complete their transition from leaders to volunteer coaches.
  • It will support the delivery of Cliff Park High Specialist Sports College Community plan by providing a vehicle through leadership and coaching to engage with a focussed community group.
  • It will support the growth of a school sport workforce supporting the schools in delivering the 5 hour offer.

 The Youth Sport Trust have been working in partnership with Sport England and SportscoachUK  to establish a framework for the programme which aims to both recruit more adults into volunteering, while also, supporting the transition of young leaders involved in step into sport to qualified and active coaches. The schools element of the RiC has been developed to align directly with both Step into Sport and the School Sport Coaching programme and as such the package on offer to schools includes:

  • Direct funding to support the recruitment of coaches against key targets.
  • Resources and guidance supporting the recruitment process.
  • Access to coaching modules which can be studied on line.
  • Scholarships supporting NGB level 1 and 2 qualifications.

 How will the programme benefit you?

  • Once you become registered with the RiC programme you will be able to access funding to help you on your way to becoming an accredited sports coach in which ever field you desire.
  • You will be able to access free county wide courses such as first aid, equity in coaching and safeguarding and protection of children to name but a few.
  • You will have a dedicated coach manager who will be able to guide, support and mentor you along your coaching pathway.
  • There will be opportunities for you to co-coach with experienced and highly qualified partnership coaches.
  • This may lead you to wanting to take the next step and wish to obtain a lead level 2 coaching qualification where we can fund up to £150.
  • You will be CRB checked and presented with your individual Identity Card and exclusive Recruit into Coaching Kit.
